How Does the Boots Advantage Card Work?
Like many loyalty cards, you earn points on money spent in-store or online. Once your Boots Advantage points have accumulated, you can redeem your points to pay for your shopping.
Do note though – This does not mean you can knock the points value off your shopping. You have to have enough points to pay for the items. So if you have £10 worth of points and a few items to buy totalling £20 then you’d have to split them up, paying for £10 or less with your points. And a separate transaction paying for the rest.
The Boots advantage loyalty scheme works more like the Co Op scheme than say Nectar or Tesco Clubcard in that you collect points and use them to get money off your Boots shopping. There is no exchanging points for ‘rewards’
When you sign up, you’ll receive personalised offers through the app, a few recent ones we have got are
- Double points – use twice
- 200 points when you spend £20 or more in store
- Triple points when you spend £5 or more on mouthwash
Cleverly targeted – if you buy say make up from Boots then you’ll get offers for extra points on the brands you buy.
You may also receive coupons through the post, although these are usually only for use in-store (see Terms and Conditions).
Boots also have a Health & Beauty magazine which is free to Boots Advantage Club members, pick one up at the till – it is actually a good read and there are usually more offers inside.
There are often good promotions running where you can make some great savings. Like £10 Tuesdays for example, where you can get huge discounts on popular branded products. Or special Christmas shopping evenings where you earn double or triple points.
With a Boots Advantage card, students can enjoy 10% off their favourite brands too.
How do you collect Boots Advantage card points?
You’ll collect 200 points when you download the app, and 100 points when you provide your email address.
You collect 4 points for every £1 spent at Boots instore or online.
Use the vouchers and offers in the app or in the post to get extra points.
If you’re a member of the Boots Parenting Club, you get 8 points per £1 spent (exclusions apply). Also, free gifts and special offers, parenting advice, and Parenting Club Offers through the Boots app.
Over 60’s also get rewarded with 8 points per £1 spent, with Over 60s Rewards. I usually do a Christmas shop with Mum so we max out her points.
Boots Opticians and Boots Hearingcare offer 1 point per £1 spend, instead of the usual 4 points. Check the terms and conditions for full details.
It’s important to note, however, that you can’t collect points on things like prescriptions, infant milk up to 6 months, gift cards and Boots Insurance Services.
Look out for the Kiosks in Boots stores, they are usually near the entrance. Pop your Advantage card in there and you’ll get some extra points offers, valid for that visit.
What Are Boots Advantage Points Worth?
Boots points are worth 1p per point which is pretty generous compared with other Loyalty schemes.
How Can I Use My Points for Purchases?
When you buy something at boots and use your Advantage Card, your receipt will show your points balance and the value. Or you can check your balance on the Boots app or at the In store kiosk.
You can only redeem points if the shopping total is less than the points you want to redeem. So the choice is yours – save them up for a higher priced item or redeem as you go.
So if you have 200 points, this is worth £2. You have to use them for something that’s £2 or less. 2000 points is worth £20. Again if your shopping come’s to £8 then that’s £8 paid with points. You can’t just knock £20 off your £50 shopping bill.
Is the Boots Advantage Card Loyalty Scheme Worth it?
Even if you shop in Boots occasionally then yes it’s definitely worth signing up.
We find Boots expensive for everyday items like shower gels and shampoos, however there are a few things we buy from there when they are on offer. Also Boots at Christmas time is fab for buying gifts (bring back the 3 for 2!) And timing our purchasing with the extra points offers means we amass a decent amount of points.
As we didn’t get the chance at Duty Free we redeemed our points for aftershave and perfume when our favourites were on offer (We have the The Perfume Shop round the corner too so prices are easy to compare)
Over 60’s and members of the Boots parenting club particularly can build up points really quickly at 8 per £1 making it well worth being a member of.
Do Boots Advantage card points expire?
The points expire after 3 years so you need to keep them alive by using your card at least once every few years.
Where Can I Join The Scheme?
You can head on over to Boots.com or download the app, or sign up using the links below.
